Norton with pedigree at Sound of Thunder 2024

Talented Tyler Lincoln will be competing on Peter Lodge’s 1962 Norton ES2 500 single.

The Norton has been to the Manx GP in both 2022 and last year, finishing 3rd both times – with a lap record in 2022 (110.32 lap) ridden by young Irishman Mike Browne. Unfortunately a crappy electronic ignition system let it down last year when a misfire developed after the first lap just as they had moved into the lead. This year they hope to finish the job!

The bike has a pretty good pedigree having won the Aussie Classic 500cc title on numerous occasions the first being in 2006 with Sammy Smith aboard, then Dobsy in 2009. Both Chris Swallow and Sammy won the Barry Sheene Memorial at Eastern Creek as did Dan Mettam in 2018 – who incidentally still holds the 500 Classic lap record at that track. Nick Cole also had wins in Aussie and a Premier 500 Title at Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama, and Daytona in 2011 and again in 2013.
