OIL CATCH BELLY PANS

There have been a few changes to the MNZ manual of motorsport. MoMS.
A new technical appendix for road racing has been added. There are a few things to consider but the most relevant one is oil catch belly pans. Initially the rule stated that belly pans are now compulsory on all road racing machines apart from a few classes which are exempt. See the rule below.
Due to a lot of feedback regarding the belly pan rule we recognise that many don't have the time or resources to fit suitable belly pans prior to several upcoming meetings. BEARS have convinced MNZ to exclude all BEARS eligible bikes from the belly pan rule until January 2027. This doesn't mean you can be complacent. Belly pans are worthwhile and WILL be compulsory so get it sorted as soon as you can.
We have been assured that the rule below in the technical appendix will be changed to reflect this.
"All machines must be fitted with an integral lower fairing dam (Belly Pan) or separate catch tray which must be constructed and fitted to trap and hold the machines engine oil and coolant combined capacity when fitted to the bike. The belly pan must have 1x25mm which will be fitted with a rubber bung/stopper or similar plug that may be removed in wet conditions. 3.5 litres will be the maximum required to be contained by the belly pan catch tank. If the oil capacity of the machine is less than 3.5 litres the catch tank must be capable of holding the Oil capacity of the machine. Eg 1.5 litres oil capacity, then the catch tank must hold 1.5 litres. Motorcycles exempt from this rule are Classic, Post classic, Post Classic Two Strokes, Two Strokes, Miniature Road Race bikes (F4/5), training class bikes, Mini SuperSport-Mini GP, Super Motard, Hyosung 250cc and HAGD entrants on road machines. Note Post Classics from Jan 2027 must comply with 4.0 recognising exemptions will still
apply to stated machine"
