Sound of Thunder is coming up fast so if you haven't already entered do it now.
Entries close Friday 6 February at 11.59pm (this is the close off date for inclusion in the race meeting programme), late entries will be accepted.
This year we have a Euro theme and the feature race will be the 12 lap Able Fabrication & Engineering Ltd MotoEuro GP. There are some awesome trophies and a $1000 in prize money up for grabs on just this one race!
All you need is a MotoEuro elligible bike in you could be in with a shot.

Once again we will have a Britten on display and doing some hot laps during the lunch break. We will also be giving away 30 passes to the new Britten Museum. All you need to do is be there to be in with a chance.
Joining the Britten we have a very special Italian stallion the Pierobon X85R. One of only 7 ever made, featuring a hand-built frame and full WSBK spec Ducati 1199 engine.

One of the long enduring feature races at Sound of Thunder is the Conti Cup. It was originally sponsored by the Continental tyre distributer but his relationship is long over. However the cup still holds its prestige as a coveted trophy. Recently it has been an invitational race for any bike with treaded tyres. Due to the virtual phasing out of treaded race tyres and the hassle it creates for riders to change wheels during the meeting, we have decided to change the criteria. After Friday qualifying all bikes will be put into brackets. A, B, & C bases on their lap times. This year the B bracket will be invited to contest the Conti Cup which will run late on Saturday afternoon. It doesn't matter what bike you are on or what tyres you have. This will give a lot of different competitors a chance to get there name on the silverware.
If time permits we will also run a race for the A and C brackets as a fun no points event.

Round 1 of the BEARS South Island Trophy was held over the weekend as part of the NZSBK meeting. 22 BEARS bikes put on a great show and were well received by the crowd.
Round 2 is this weekend at the Burt Munro Challenge. 33 BEARS bikes have entered across the 4 classes so once again we expect some good close racing and battles throughout the field.
Results and points from round 1 can be found HERE.
