In just a couple of weeks 12 Aussies will be unpacking their bikes to take on the Kiwis at Sound of Thunder 2024. Among them is a group of Roaring Sporties. A series contested over 5 rounds in Australia for Harleys and Buells. This year their first points round will be held at Sound of Thunder making this a true International Championship. A few Kiwis on similar bikes will be taking them on at their own game and crossing the ditch later in the year to contest a few rounds in OZ.
Eddy Garner is the driver & organiser of this group and is also the poster boy this year. He has been campaigning the same bike for 30 years and loves every minute of it. A regular at Sound on Thunder events on various bikes including an old 'hand-shift'.
Another long timer is Fergus Gibson. Fergus starting racing Bears at SOT 1994, so 30 years. He has won 3 National Bears Championships 2 x Vic State titles all on BEARS bikes. He say he brought the Buell as it is a fair and level playing field for all....and a terrific bunch of guys and supporters to be with at the track.
There are a few other Aussie hard chargers and some trick bikes coming too which will make for an interesting Tran-Tasman Challenge but more on that later!
If you want to part of Sound of Thunder 2024 you only have a week to get your entry in to be included in the program. Entries will be accepted after the 14th but you will be charged a late fee which is donated to St Johns. No excuses, get your entry in NOW!
